Prof Olaitan Soyannwo
Olaitan Soyannwo is a Professor of anaestheisa and Consultant anaesthetist, pain and palliative care. She is a Fellow of West African College of Surgeons and Fellow Nigerian Academy of Science. She has published over 100 scientific articles and supervised several postgraduate residents in Anaesthesia. Her leadership roles at both national and International levels include Head, department of Anaesthesia and Dean of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, member National Cancer Consultative committee, council member and foreign secretary, Nigerian Academy of Science, secretary, Faculty of anaesthesia and later treasurer and council member, West African College of Surgeons, member PEPFAR committee, Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the American Academy of Science and head of the Hospice and Palliative care Department, University College Hospital Ibadan. She has served on several international scientific committees including WHO advisory committees. She is co - founder, Society for the Study of pain, Nigeria, past council member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and past Vice chairman, board of African Palliative Care Association (APCA). She has received several awards including the IASP distinguished Honorary Membership for her immense contributions to pain management, education and research in Africa. She is currently, the president of a Not for profit organization - Centre for palliative Care, Nigeria. She is married with children and grandchildren.
